Project titleCreation of a sewing school adapted to the needs of young mothers in Banfora
Banfora, Burkina Faso
In the region of cascades in Burkina Faso, many girls leave the villages to find a job in the city. Waitresses in bars or servant in a family, they are abused and some become pregnant unintentionally. They are then in serious distress and unable to support themselves.
About the project
In partnership with the local association “Cherenfant”, ASED has created a sewing school with a diploma recognized by the state and services adapted to the needs of girl-mothers. The school includes a nursery for the care of children. Girls benefit from listening, counseling and social assistance service.
With a qualification and a better social integration, they will be able to find a job, to settle on their own account and thus to support the needs of their children.
Activities began in 2015 in rented premises, which became quickly cramped. The project continues with the purchase of land and the construction of premises adapted to receive 3 promotions with their children.
The Cherenfant Association “Association Cherenfant” in Banfora was created in 2012. It was born from the initiative of its current president who decided to act to help the many children who are in extreme distress in her region.
