A SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL LEVER FOR YOUNG MOTHERS
Location
Banfora, Burkina Faso
Context
In an already difficult context where less than one-third of young people reach secondary school, many girls drop out of school as a result of early pregnancy, jeopardizing their future and that of their children.
The Burkinabe government has put in place a national strategy to fight early pregnancy and is working to increase vocational training opportunities for young people who drop out of school.
The means implemented to achieve this are very insufficient. ASED is working with Cherenfant to complement these efforts and support young girls in the Cascades region who are dropping out of school and suffering from social exclusion.
Partnership
The Cherenfant Association in Banfora was created in 2012. It was born from the initiative of its current president who decided to act to help the many children who are in extreme distress in his region.
