ASED
Access to science to build the country’s future

Location
Kandi, Benin, West Africa (North of the country)
Context
Lycée Champagnat de Kandi is located in a disadvantaged area in the north of the country. Its aim is to provide access to quality education for all, especially disadvantaged children. Over the years, it has become an academic example of national renown.
However, the region is under considerable pressure from radicalized groups who question the education of children, particularly girls.
Project
ASED supports the equipping of a science laboratory for the Champagnat high school, which is also open to other high school students in the region. In a context where education is being called into question, the project aims to demystify science by making accessible to young people the knowledge that will enable them to become involved in the development of their country.
Impact
Students aged between 12 and 18.
In the Champagnat middle school:
- 250 children a year.
- 7 teachers will be specifically trained.
In other colleges in the region :
- 500 children per year
- 13 teachers will be specifically trained.
Indirectly and globally, all those involved in secondary education in Kandi benefit from the laboratory’s services.
Teacher training also aims to ensure that the equipment purchased is properly maintained. These teachers are responsible for making students aware of the need for proper management.
Partnership
The Vie Pour Tous Foundation is well established in the region, where it carries out its activities in association with local authorities and communities. With 15 years’ experience in the field of education, it is financially autonomous and its actions are based on continuity and sustainability.
