A Bonne Ecole in Tana

  Project title

Tana project: pre-schooling for the children of Antananarivo

Tananarive, Androhibe, Madagascar

  Starting point

Children from the most disadvantaged areas of Tananarive, a peripheral district in the Androhibe region, do not have access to preschool supervision. ASED believes that pre-school education facilitates and encourages entry into primary school. A project to rehabilitate a school was undertaken by the NGO A Bonne École. However, it did not have sufficient financial means.

   About the project

ASED financed the rehabilitation of the buildings as well as the construction of a new classroom, inaugurated in 2010. In 2011, ASED provides the running costs of the school for a period of one year and a balanced meal every day to the children. The purpose of the project is to promote the education of children in a very disadvantaged region and through this, teach children the basics of hygiene and health.

90 children from 3 to 5 have the opportunity to go to school and develop a sense of learning as well as hygiene and health. In addition, all pupils receive one free meal daily to be in good physical condition. Their chances of continuing normal schooling will be much higher.
